Back in March we talked about Nottingham, a new version of the Robin Hood legend. Since we are big fans of this charming gentleman thief, we couldn’t be more delighted. It seems this time the story is going to be a little different, we’ll have a less honorable Robin and a gentler Nottingham instead of the more traditional approach, and they will both be disputing Lady Marian’s love. This is certainly a bit unusual but very interesting!
Russell Crowe will be playing the Sheriff, as we announced earlier, and Sienna Miller will have the pleasure of playing Maid Marian. But the big question remains, who will be Robin Hood? There’s some talk about young Sam Riley, but we’re clearly hoping they will choose someone a bit older and more… charismatic. Somehow we cannot picture this young man and Russell Crow together on the same screen, it seems so unbalanced.
Do you have any better suggestions? Who do you think would be the perfect Robin Hood?

Sam Riley, the new Robin Hood?
One of the most known works of Oscar Wilde – Dorian Gray - is going to be adapted to the screen once more. Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian from The Chronicles of Narnia) was cast to play the handsome but oh so wicked Dorian but the rest of the cast remains unknown.
The 1945 version with Hurd Hatfield, Donna Reed and Angela Lansbury was just wonderful, so we’ll be eagerly waiting for a new vision of Wilde’s work about viciousness, vanity and immortality.
This movie will be produced by Barnaby Thompson and directed by Oliver Parker, known for their team work in “An Ideal Husband” and “The Importance of Being Earnest”.

Ben Barnes, the young British actor.

You know, I am not a huge Russell Crowe fan at the best of times, and then add Siena Miller as Marian and I am getting less and less interested in this movie.
Ben Barnes is a hottie isn’t he!

I have the same problem, Marg. I’m not a Russell fan either and Sienna Miller as Marian is a huge mistake, imo. I was already picturing Eva Green in this role…
If they do chose Riley as Robin, I don’t think I’ll see the movie also. I cannot understand how is it possible to miscast so many people in the same movie…
Now, I can easily imagine Christian Bale as Robin.
LOL He is handsome, yes, even if a bit too androgynous for my tastes. I saw an interview with him about The Narnia Chronicles and he really seems a sweet guy. I truly hope he’ll surprise us with a very vicious and intense Dorian Gray. I have high expectations here!
Eva Green sounded much better to me too… I think I will still watch it but nobody beats Alan Rickman as the Sheriff (at least in my mind).
Now… just wondering… will there be a Guy of Guisborne anywhere in this story?!?
Nottingham’s filming has been postponed…

I was so hopeful that the movie was postponed because they finally decided to look for another Maid Marian.
LOLOLOLOL who knows? We can still hope Sienna Miller will be unavailable later
I’m crossing fingers and toes!LOL

Ever since Gladiator, I think I like Russell Crowe best in these types of roles. I look forward to seeing him as Robin Hood. My interest has only gotten higher now that instead of the rumored Sherrif role, he’s actually playing Robin Hood.
