Filming starts this month on a new, four part adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s novel Tess of the D’Uberville. We’re mildly curious about it as the story is very sad and previous adaptations have left a sour taste in our mouths. It is not easy to make such a story of love, secrets, betrayal and double standards to work on screen. This BBC Drama Production is lead by Gemma Arterton, of James Bond fame, in the starring role, the rest of the castincludes Jodie Whittaker, Ruth Jones, Hans Matheson and Anna Massey it will probably reach the screens on Autumn 2008.

An old legend is retold in the new series Merlin being also produced by the BBC. Unlike most takes on the Arthurian folklore in which Arthur is the center of the action here we have a young Merlin and his adventures and trials. Although many has been done with this story we are always interested in something different. Filming has started also and part of the cast are Richard Wilson, Anthony Head, Colin Morgan and Bradley James.

Oh dear, what to do? BIG fan of the Robin Hood legend, but I’m not a fan of Russell Crowe!
I have the same problem, Dee… Crowe is far from being one of my favorite actors but curiously, I really liked The Sum of Us, one of his older movies: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111309/
I also saw another one lately set in the South of France and with Marion Cottilard (A Good Year) but he didn’t convinced me at all.
Hmm I haven’t watched many movies with him but I liked him in Cinderella Man. I really have no opinion and I’ll look forward to this movie because it’s a different take on the characters. I like that!
I loved The Gladiator so I’m looking forward to see how he does as Sheriff of Nottingham.
